Vinha do Cuco, 2019
Alvarinho – Laurel
Minho Regional Wine
Concept. Make a wine, in the region of vinhos verdes, with ripe grapes, vinified with enormous rigor, but in a minimalist way, so that the wine expresses the characteristics of the grape varieties and the place of production.
The Harvest. The year 2018 had a rapid growth of vines until the end of July. August was fresh, especially during the night, favoring a slow maturation, with good acidity and development of aromas. September was hot and dry allowing the complete maturation of the grapes to harvest in a timely manner.
Technology. Crushing with total desengace of the grapes, followed by gentle pressing and natural decanting for 48 hours. Fermentation at 18 °C, in stainless steel vat, followed by transfer. Tight filtration and bottling with little sulfur.
Proof notes. It is a wine captivating by the elegant and intense aroma. It surprises in the mouth for the amplitude, freshness and aromatic persistence, which ends in a long and soft finish, marked by minerality. The combination of an elegant nose with structure and complexity in the mouth makes wine very pleasant to drink..
Profile. It can be drunk young, but as it has structure and acidity evolves very well in bottle and usually be better after a year.
Like drinking. Serve at 10 °C without decanting, to appreciate the mutations that the aroma undergoes in the first 15 minutes. Great to accompany unseasoned dishes or as an appetizer.
Prizes. International competition “Albarinos al Mundo”, Silver Medal in the 2013 harvest and Great Gold Medal in the 2015 harvest. Sakura Wine Awards, Japan, Silver Medal at the 2016 Harvest
